Transformative Impression, Richard Black International Print Exhibition

Transformative Impressions was an international juried print exhibition celebrating the diversity, experimentation, and evolving practices of contemporary printmaking. As co-juror with Raluca Iancu, with the exhibition curated by Lilah Anderson, I was involved throughout the development of the exhibition, from helping establish the theme and develop the call for submissions to reviewing 120 entries and selecting 34 works for exhibition at Drake University’s Anderson Gallery.

My role also extended to shaping how the exhibition and its story were communicated visually. I developed the exhibition’s visual identity and designed communication materials including the exhibition catalog, promotional materials, and supporting graphics. The design translated the exhibition’s theme into a cohesive visual language across print, digital, and gallery applications while keeping the selected artworks at the center of the experience.

The exhibition catalog served as both a record of the exhibition and an extension of its visual identity. I used typography, imagery, layout, and visual hierarchy to create continuity throughout the publication and communicate the character of the exhibition. The resulting design brought together a wide range of artistic approaches within a unified visual system while highlighting the individuality of each artist and work.
