In Transit, site specific print installation

In Transit is a site-specific relief print installation composed of 85 individually hand-carved blocks depicting seated figures. Each figure is printed repeatedly and layered with others, creating a continuous field of overlapping bodies that stretches across the gallery walls.

The work reflects on people I have encountered throughout different periods of my life and the ways memories of those encounters shift and fade over time. Having moved frequently, my memories of people are often disconnected from a specific time or place—faces and figures remain, while the circumstances surrounding them become less distinct. The translucent layers of ink visualize this fragmentation, allowing individuals to emerge, overlap, and recede into one another.

Like strangers sharing a public space, the figures appear physically close yet remain disconnected. In Transit considers the fleeting relationships we form as we move through places and stages of life, and how traces of people can remain with us even after the connections between person, place, and time have begun to disappear.
